Advertising Disclosure
Last updated September 19, 2026.
Michiana On Tap is an independent local media company. Sponsors and advertisers make the site possible, and we want you to always know when something is paid.
How paid content is labeled
- Sponsored stories carry a SPONSORED label at the top of the page and the line "Paid partnership with [Sponsor]".
- Presenting sponsors of a section, the weekend guide, a giveaway or an event page are identified next to that section with "Presented by".
- Display placements are marked "Advertisement".
- Sponsored listings in our places directory are marked "Sponsored" and appear first.
- Sponsored events carry a "Sponsored" label on event listings and a disclosure on the event page.
Editorial independence
Sponsors may provide information, but editorial production remains controlled by Michiana On Tap. Sponsors do not review or approve our stories before publication, and a sponsorship never guarantees favorable coverage. Businesses are never removed from our listings because they are not advertisers.
Alcohol and gaming sponsors
Sponsor placements for alcohol and gaming follow those industries' advertising rules. Their messages are meant for adults 21 and older and never target minors, and casino ads include a responsible-gaming message and a problem-gambling helpline.
Alcohol and gaming sponsors never appear on family content or on content about Notre Dame, and never present our Game Day On Tap section. Their ads don't use Notre Dame's name, logos or slogans. Our site enforces these placement rules automatically.
Affiliate links
We do not currently use affiliate links. If that changes, affiliate links will be disclosed on the page where they appear.
Giveaways
Giveaway prizes are typically provided by the sponsor named on the giveaway page. See our Contest Rules for how entries and winners are handled.
